For the more seasoned EMTs, what does a new EMTB do that bothers you?

    Don’t drive like a ****-head.

    Choosing between two companies

IIRC, I’d already mentioned this to the OP in another thread. Redundancy isn’t something I’m a fan of. I’m guessing it didn’t work out for the OP, and/ or they didn’t fit their (Liberty’s) needs. OP, make your own mind up. Our suggestions only carry so much weight in your own personal life...

I did. Lighten up Francis, it was a suggestion not a dig.

I’m not. Just leave SoCal as well...

    Private 9-1-1/ALS Opportunity

@EMT Rookie seriously? You need to get out of LA/ OC/ SoCal “EMS”.

Survival Flight Ohio Fatal HEMS crash

Every now and again OCC calls us with similar info. I find them to be quite helpful.

Survival Flight Ohio Fatal HEMS crash

Clearly, it isn’t just a California thing. Without knowing too much about the Ohio incident, it does happen quite frequently. The combing through different bases is something a hospital could care less about, when as @DesertMedic66 pointed out, they’re just trying to get a patient out. My base...

Does Kern County Still Have Good Protocols?

Fair enough. It’s indirectly built this way. In short, many of the MICN’s aren’t too versed on our protocols, coupled with the way that they’re written makes them indirectly autonomous. With that, there are still plenty of providers who aren’t exactly honed with the protocols and will ask for...

Does Kern County Still Have Good Protocols?

Define “some time”;)... OP, I have no clue what you get by meaning “good protocols”. Are you a paramedic? Are you—like many people—going off of others opinions to form yours? Most of what you’ve heard sounds like a hodgepodge of others accounts and experiences with this system. You...

To Degree or Not to Degree. That is The Question.

I don't believe I've ever doubted the importance of a degree, nor what it is that a degree brings to this field in general. I was asking as more of a broadly generalized question for others similar to myself. Not to say that I wouldn't obtain, or have completely ruled out obtaining my degree...

    Working while in Medic School

I only browsed the thread posts. Are you enrolled, or looking into Mt. Sac? It’s no longer a program, it’s now an academy. It sounds like a lot has been restructured since I last stepped foot on, or around that campus. https://www.mtsac.edu/newsroom/news/posts/2017-05-22-paramedic.html The...

To Degree or Not to Degree. That is The Question.

That is the question to ponder for myself...often. In the event that I was permanently unable to return to work from some gawd awful injury, then yes, a degree would serve its purpose. Can, or will it happen? I don't know. Full disclosure: I am not arguing my point, it's a legitimate question...

    Australian paramedic to US (California)

https://emsa.ca.gov/paramedic/ As far as what to expect- that will vary from county to county. Also, I don't know what an Australian paramedic equates to scope-of-practice-wise in The States, let alone California. Perhaps give us some more background info like why you want to move to...

    TP-C, CCP-C, CPP-C ,TR-C, EM-C, EMT-T,

No. Unless you are planning on seeking gainful employment at an agency that recognizes, and/ or requires them they are—to me—useless. They will not make you a proficient “specialty provider”. And yes, to a degree the IBSC and CAMTS seem to be in bed with one another.

    TP-C, CCP-C, CPP-C ,TR-C, EM-C, EMT-T,

A lot of people view the CCP-C as a redundant version of the FP-C. Having taken both, I don’t know that I completely agree. Yes, there are no flight questions with the CCP-C. But, they’re replaced with anything and everything in the latest CAMTS guidelines, pediatric/ neonatal questions, and/...

    Private 9-1-1/ALS Opportunity

Because of its location (a legitimate question, not a dig)? Why not move, or work 2 hours to the north, east, or west? I work in a system that is what you’re describing as “happy”, but we’re still constantly looking to hire more paramedics to meet demands. It’s also very well established in its...

    Private 9-1-1/ALS Opportunity

It’s cool you’re hopeful and all, but I just don’t know that you fully understand the logistical challenges that a private company faces in attempts to provide ALS care in any parts of SoCal that they’ve yet to already established a footprint in. Maybe it would be cost-efficient for the City of...
