    Paramedic Degress?

Personally, I would peruse a management degree of some sort. Getting a college degree in the same discipline as your formal training has severe limitations in the real world. Management training/ skills are needed as you progress through your career. Start thinking about the future/ future needs...

How much of your military experience HAS translated to civilian credit?

I have another buddy who is a Paramedic in the National Guard. He told me his training in the Army only got him a NREMT-B certificate which I thought was weird.

How much of your military experience HAS translated to civilian credit?

Nothing I did in the military carried over civilian. I got 6 units at my community college in Physical Education/ Elective credit for completing basic training. With that being said, I have a friend who was a Nuclear something or other in the US Navy, and he walked into a stationary engineer...

    Air Force Aerospace Medical Service?

Thanks for the input, I'm having a difficult time with this one . . . I have 6 years of military experience and two degrees under my belt, yet my job prospects are slim. I'm just trying to make the most out of my next move so I'm moving forward instead of backwards. . .

    Air Force Aerospace Medical Service?

I'm looking for a reserve opportunity in the Air Force that will get me my EMT-B and compliment my ultimate goal ob eventually obtaining my EMT-P and going into flight medic. I'm already prior service and I finished my bachelors degree last year. If I was a few years younger, I'd enlist as a PJ...

    Air Force Aerospace Medical Service?

Does anyone here have the skinny on the US Air Force's Aerospace Medical Service? It appears like a jack-of-all- trades/ master of none career field. What type of certifications, if any, do you receive that translate over to the civilian world? I was looking into Aeromedical Evacuation, but it...

Welcome out of Iraq, now what?

I'm not sure if this answers your question, but I got out of Iraq in late 2004. I didn't get the military until 2008, but during that time I drained my GI Bill and received two degree's for my trouble. Thanks Uncle Sam! I do miss the military, I've been considering going back into the reserves...

Flight Medic vs. Flight RN: Interesting

Being that I work for a hospital, and I deal with incoming patient's who are flown into my facility, I have interesting interactions/ conversations from time to time. I was talking to a veteran pilot with a company that employees both a Flight RN & and Flight Medic, and I asked him why they...

    IFT or ER Tech

ER Tech seem to vary from location to location. Where I'm at, most of the EMT-B/EMT-P are always looking to jump over to ER Tech because we tend make more. However, that may not be the case in other places. Generally speaking, most Emergency Department's want clinical experience over most...

    Scuba Diving?

I logged a few new dives this week. I dove the great corral reef wall off Grand Turk in Turks & Cacaos. Two dives both at about 85-90 feet depth, water conditions were great; I sat at the bottom at bout 85 feet and looked straight up and I could see the bottom of the boat. Just awesome diving...
