    Inappropriate extrication

You are correct and multiple bystanders kept saying I was a doctor and I kept correcting them, no. I am not. I do not get special treatment for simply wearing scrubs. However, do not simply assume I don't know what I'm talking about either when I ask you to debrief your team on proper...

    Inappropriate extrication

Hi guys. It's been a LONG time. Quite a few years. I allowed my EMT-B to lapse after getting employed in a hospital working with spinal cord rehabilitation. I currently work on a neuro trauma unit...so more spine, add brains and they are barely out of the ED. I may have left the truck, but I...

    Paraplegic and vitals

Regarding foley. I had not seen it before. I have seen catheters but this was like a condom attached to the tubing going to the urine bag. Similar just nothing inserted into the urethra. It was removed when we arrived for transport and a depends/brief/diaper was placed on. I sort of took that...

    Do you tell your co-workers...

They know I browse, but I refuse to let on what my screen name is and since it's totally different than any other screen name I have (I normally keep them the same), they may continue to stay in the dark as to my posting ability.

    Paraplegic and vitals

Tough case. All limbs paralized and hypertonic. Pulses hard to find, blood pressure almost impossible to hear. I could not hear it once in the truck and the engine was running. I ended up using my stethoscope over the patient's chest to get heart rate (which did coincide with pulse ox pulse...

    Menstrual blood loss

Not any grosser (and less so) than discarded used tampons on the floor. Or trash. I swear women who use disposable products in public restrooms are some of the most disgusting creatures on the face of the planet and at my civilian job I'm thoroughly sick of cleaning up after them. I'd rather...

    Pediatric transport in a CRS.

It depends on the seat. Forward facing raise the head to as high as it can go. Put the seatbelt where indicated. Should only take one at that point since most work like a latch system. Rear facing a little trickier but still doable. Both seat types will face the back window, but with an...

What is it about EMS personell that nurses/docs dont like?

I was told while in the hospital for preterm issues that could cause miscarriage if not treated that I could say no to the nursing students and that it would be respected. I said "no? I'm a student as well and if I am going to learn it's only through being permitted to observe. Get them in...

    I don't trust him

You're right. I'm trying here. Really. I've had way too many off the clock convos with this guy (and a personal run in that Brown can attest had me upset for days since he got to hear me rant about it in chat for a while). It may just be tainting my impression of him as a provider. I may...

Brown is far too young to say that Brown is too old for med school. Sassafras has at least a decade on Brown and that's what prompted the current nursing search. Brownletts will come as they may. But Brown dreams are too young to die yet. My advice to Brown is to keep pressing. Mrs. Brown...

Nurse works well on an orange jumpsuit, though Brown will color coordinate better. There is no need for a Brownspeak/English translator. At least on this end of the server, comprehension is fine.

Actually peds are lower paid still. Friend offered 75k for full partnership near here. She laughed at them of course but where she is now is not much higher.

    I don't trust him

Is it really as simple as that? I'm not being snarkey. It just seems as though it could create a lot of waves within the politics of volley service. Know what I mean? How do you even approach the cheif about that when this person goes on a good portion of calls?

    Looking for Intervewee

When you multiply that cost times the number of drivers out there it does get overwhelming. Where does the funding for this come from? More taxes? They can't even get people to agree to higher taxes for their own healthcare. I seriously suspect a coup would ensue if the powers that be...

Taxes, malpractice insurance, living like you are on 30K isn't really possible becaue 30K salary people get not only medical assistance, but cash and food stamps as well as multiple other government hand outs. Add on a kid that will be college age by the time I finish residency and two more...

    Familial angio dysplasia

Vene, I was starting to think that. I hate teenage behavioral transports. They are so personal medical history stupid and their parents/guardians are never there. How this became legal, I don't know, but it makes charting difficult and I assume even tougher for an actual doctor to treat.
