I realize this is over a month old...but GCC,PVCC,Phoenix College and Wizard Education all have exceptional programs.

Northern AZ is not too bad. As a 17 year medic you will hate it in the Phoenix area though. Everything is controlled by the fire departments and you pretty much just get treated like a gurney jockey.

I can ask around,I still have some contacts at PFD. I'd imagine it's similar to what Mesa Fire has been doing for a few years now. They send a medic and PA out on low acuity calls and frequent flyers and do a lot of treat and release kind of stuff

This x1000. I don't know how many probationary EMTs I had come through my station that were all Ricky Rescued out with the gear belt and Littman Cardiology 10000 scopes, and they couldn't auscultate a BP to save their lives (or someone else's). I bought a $25 scope years ago for the sole reason...
Get a hospital ER tech job. SW/PMT are being integrated into AMR right now. It's going to be a bigger mess than it already is. You'll make more hourly at a hospital and sleep in your own bed
umm...your employer should teach you how to operate the ambulance and provide you with FTO time until you are comfortable on your own. If they don't have a driving program id probably pass on employment there. Driving an ambulance isnt inherently difficult...it just takes practice. You should...
I think you need to have a serious sit down come to Jesus (or Allah if that's your thing) with him and decide if this relationship is truly what you both want. Theres a reason why divorce rates are so high in public safety...this lifestyle isnt for everyone. Its better to have that chat now...
Bingo. I wore a suit during the entire process (written, oral boards, not the physical test obviously) a Sheriff's Office I interviewed for...and im on the hire list now. Its better to be overdressed than under dressed for any sort of employment activities.
our Brauns have digital temp control...you can set it as low as 52 in the back but you will get nowhere near that. But any cool air is good when its 115 out
The Phoenix Metro market is unfortunately saturated with Basic EMTs. Dont limit yourself to just ambulance jobs, consider hospital ER tech jobs as well. I know its not as "sexy" and exciting as being on an ambulance, but you'll be inside and the pay is considerably better
I just interviewed with them. Im sure some of what they said was fluff, but it sounds like a pretty solid operation compared to what I am used to. They have a pretty large scope for EMTs and they expect them to be involved in pt care and not just "drivers". I was told the salary is negotiable...
If there were plenty of people around why didnt you just go about your business and go home? Maybe I view it differently because I work in a busy urban system, and I dont live or breathe EMS anymore like I used to, but based on your posts I deduct that you are new to EMS. If there is one piece...
