I am currently in an inactive status. I have taken my continuing education courses already but I still need to complete my 24-hour refresher training course. I wanted to know, if I use an online 24-hour refresher training course, will that be valid for my recertification? Is it true that I do not need an in-person training session to remain an inactive nationally certified EMT?

Additionally, if online courses are valid, do you know which ones are recommended? I found a site called Code3CME powered by Medic-CE. Has anyone heard of this, and is it valid?

Hey, from what I understand the CE needs to be accredited for it to be accepted... I saw this company is giving 5 free hours away on their Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/EMTprepcom-112400242156027/.

You do not need an in person training session to remain active. I did all of my con ed for my first round of certification online with the exception of a college AP1 class I took for nursing school, but that was not under the refresher requirements.

Check with NREMT to see if they will accept it, they accept certain accreditations.

I have had people tell me that they do the refreshers online but I thought that you had to have practical portions. The local online ones include practical portions.

Reading NREMT (I can't post links), it sounds like you can renew with continuing education credits but some states do not accept it for their continuing education credits. This may be where I was confused since I believe MI requires practical credits.
