I too prefer Xopenex, unless the patient is allergic to it I pretty much always use that instead of Albuterol. There is one patient in my service area that is highly allergic to Xopenex, had to be tubed twice because of it but responds to Albuterol great.
Sounds sketchy.
"As previously announced, all Paramedic students who begin their education on or after January 1, 2013, and wish to obtain NREMT National EMS Certification at the Paramedic level must successfully complete their Paramedic education at an accredited program or one that is...
According to the NREMT website the only requirement outside of completing the course is to be at least 18 years old. Not sure what state you're in but in Texas to be certified you must have a diploma/GED.
Not sure what that 90 day rule is about. I had to wait four months before I could take...
Can you be a good medic without a class, yes. Can you be the best possible medic, probably not. At least go out and buy an A&P textbook and read it.
I took A&P at an university and I don't use half the things I learned, but the half I do use makes me glad I took it.
If I ever need to...
It's the CAAHEP accreditation. It wasn't a Texas thing, but a NREMT requirement that after the first of last year all Paramedic students must graduate from an accredited course to sit for the NR exam.
It shouldn't have mattered that they were an online school as PERCOM was able to gain...
I don't think Training Division is offering Paramedic courses anymore because they decided not to go through with the accreditation process, or knew they couldn't get through the process depending on who you speak to.
Because we are medical professionals not law enforcement. I wouldn't object to having a "liaison" office at DHS to cover the areas that HHS would be unfamiliar with. The NHTSA makes more sense than DHS, which doesn't make sense when you have HHS.
Coming from a 911 non-fire medic I'd really...
Other than prospective grant money, why would we want to be under DHS as opposed to HHS? A lot of people already think we're somehow related to law enforcement, I think this will only make things worse.
+1 for SLAM. I went to their class a few years back in Dallas, unfortunately it looks like that might have been their last class.
Or maybe not, I just checked their website and they finally have some classes scheduled!
My biggest complaint when I was a student with PERCOM was the lack of communication within the administration. They do seem to horribly understaffed for the amount of students they have and when one person is out of the office whether it been finance or clinicals its almost impossible to get...
