where i work i could call the police on that one. if he touched me he could go to jail for a LONG time. (and we have the privilege of getting the tactical team involved. they are not known for being gentile.)
I don't know the law in your state but by us all medically trained personnel must give assistance if required (duty to act). I asked the instructor (an EMT-A) in one of the EMT-B courses I helped out in and he said that here it's his decision if he wants to take over or not but he wulde not if...
I don't know what they test on but I can tell you the sizes we use. size D 2.4 liters for mobile o2. size D 20 liters for stationery o2. In my test by my local EMS they did ask and they also wanted how you can know how much time you have before you need to refill. (ATM*contents in liters/L.P.M.)
As far as my system is concerned the short term O2 would not kill him although there have been rare cases of it happening in the long term. short term being under 40 MIN or so. As for the MDs order we must follow to the letter if we know for sure the he is an MD and not just an imposter...
I had a call yesterday to a 22 y female with Hx sinusitis after brief LOC on the way to the restroom. when we got there she was alone in the house in bed. VS was not alarming and we transported her to the hospital for treatment. after advising the triage nurse she was directed to wait and we...
I am from a very hot area (in the summer 102F is normal) and we show up in closed shoes and socks although we have short sleeves. (It is against regs to remove shoes at the base.)
I would not be allowed on the rig in the first place without socks for 2 reasons: 1) It would be out of uniform. 2) It would be considered a safety hazzerd ( a pt showing us what he had for lunch the hard way comes to mind )
In my EMS we have protocol to keep time in the field to a minimum. Unless we can diagnose the sickness (or no sickness sometimes) we transport and do the second survey in the rig (although this is not always the case and much is left to the highest ranking medic to decide) . I remember a call i...
In my country for the past 10-20 years there has been a department in my national EMS that responds without uniform and may or may not have equipment and dos not have means to transport. I remember an incident that went something like this: "5y/o F Conscious unknown trauma." The first responder...
To get into med-school in my country you need very high marks on something called Psychometric tests (somewhat similar to SAT in the us) . A big part of this test is English. My spelling would make this clear without spell-check.
A shoping trip you wouldn't expect
The other day i was at a small grocery shop when i over hear this: "my finger hurts can you give me a elastic bandage". I turn my head and see a 20s male talking to the shop owner a former EMT (Quit about 6 years ago. Not certified anymore. Told me some time...
