    Anyone do Dialysis transports?

My service does a ton of dialysis transfers. I think we have 5 or 6 regulars that go about 3 times a week. and the part about leaving the cannula hooked up to the in-house......I think everyone has done that at least once.

Glucometers and Test Strips on BLS?

In Mass, BLS units can administer oral glucose, but we cannot carry glucometers. To me, it would make a lot of sense for us to be able to get a read on a pt before giving glucose. As a basic, we are trained and can use the glucometer and lancets only if we are working on a P/B unit (since we...

How much do you make per hour?

This is definitely not the career to be in if you are all about the almighty dollar. I took a huge pay cut to be an EMT. I don't know about all other services, but there is a ton of overtime available at my co. I try to pick up at least one extra shift per week to make up for the low wages...

    Psych Transfers

"Every shift we get one or two pysch transfers. I'm wondering if you FF/EMS guys ever get those. They're my personal favorite, requiring almost no "work". Usually they just sit in back jump seat, and I sit on the bench. We buckle them in, and transport." -wow. I work in MA, and as far as...
