That sticker is now more of a target than anything else. Cops and firefighters don't really get along too well these days, even more so with the latest round of LE layoffs.
Just to clarify a few things regarding hotshot crews and EMT's....In Region 5 for the US Forest service (California) most hotshot crews are seasonal. Some southern forests like the San Bernardino, Cleveland and Angeles Forests staff their non temporary people on Fuels Crews during the winter...
VentMedic, thanks for all the info. This is exactly why I started this in the first place. To get people to think about these pt's. I know for a fact that a lot of EMT-B's transport these pt's, and are lucky that something requiring an intervention doesn't happen. although it's in the Orange...
We transport them BLS out here in Orange County. I'm pretty sure the reason why is that the only ALS providers are Fire Medics (or nurses...but I dont think they can justify a non-vent trach as a CCT call) Also, there is a hospital less than 5 minutes from almost anywhere in O.C.
Just wondering if any of you BLS companies spend any time training EMT-B's on the function and support of patients with a trach. The proper way to suction a pt came under discussion yesterday, and it seems a lot of EMT-Basics are petrified to perform this basic skill.
Just curious what this upgrade is all about, and some of the places and times one can take this course. And anyone have any idea when OC is going to have their expanded scope stuff in place?
The Training Division online program lets you do your didactic portion at a self pace, then you spend 2 weeks in Crowley, TX doing their skills and rotations program.
man...thats when you wanna ask the guy if he wants to step outside "for some fresh air" people like that are just sooo ridiculous that you just have to walk away...shaking your head.
we had a bunch of line emt packs made by a private co...and they were cool when they were made, but they are pretty small. I'm looking for something that I can hand my line medics when they show up without gear on large fires. I think those might fit the bill. And the prob with filling up...
YEAH..I MAY VERY WELL END UP DOING THAT. i WAS JUST SEEING IF ANYONE HAD SOME GOOD LEADS ON THINGS THAT HAVE CHANGED IN THE LAST 6 MONTHS. I WAS TRYING TO AVOID GALLS...BUT THOSE BAGS YOU RECOMMENDED ARE BEAUTIFUL! I MAY JUST DO IT THE OLD FASHIONED WAY AND DOCUMENT DOCUMENT DOCUMENT!
