Buffing Calls @ Private NYC Ambulances

I speak as a resident of NYC and a former vollie EMT. There is currently no purpose for vollies in NYC.all the vollies in NYC get their calls via listening to PD and buffing. Yes there are some vollies who have a loyal following of patients who actually call their emergency hotline number...

    Figure 1

I've been using the excellent free medical sharing app Figure 1 for quite some time now. Recently I applied and got chosen to be a student ambassador for the app. The app works similar to Instagram, just for medical images. As a former EMT and current PA student, I think it is a great learning...

There is nothing like a good Hatzalah video...

I live in a neighborhood where they operate and will attempt to clarify some points. 1. I believe that they are NOT in the nyc system as a vollie, but rather as a private, just without any employees. 2. They get their calls from a seven digit "hotline" number. 3. all the neighborhoods in nyc...

    New York EMS Hiring

Exactly. That is the arrangement with Seniorcare and Brooklyn Hospital. Some places even have a Hospital providing for the hospital, as NYP provides for NY Community units 33B and 33U.

    New York EMS Hiring

Seniorcare is contracted to provide the 911 ambulance for Brooklyn hospital I believe one of the units is 31E. i think transcare also has a 911 division.

    Pa - Physician Assistant

Try emergency care programs. They have a variety of schedules for EMT-B. and once you get your certification you might also want to look into some vollie's, if you only want to do it part time.

    New FDNY Ambulance

They were required to have turn out gear way before they got these buses. I would think that some of the FDNY guys wouldn't be happy with these buses, but would much rather a raise.

    New FDNY Ambulance

Maimo's buses are awesome. I did hear though that even those big 4 wheel drive ones which they have got stock in the big storm last winter. Maimo is a private entity, as apposed to FDNY which is taxpayer money.

    New FDNY Ambulance

I know that this happens, however I don't think the cost/benefit is worth it.

    New FDNY Ambulance

What's the point of dual medic?

That would be interesting. I guess the two minds are better than one theory has some truth.

What's the point of dual medic?

In NYC 911 is mandated that ALS units must be dual medic. I think they should split them up and give every ALS unit one EMT and one Medic. Eitherway for the serious calls that require two medics on the patient here in NYC they send one BLS and one ALS (2 EMT & 2 Medic). the...
