We used FISDAP as well in our clinical and field testing, and for BLS level skills I thought it a bit much. I could see more of a role in Medic school. One thing I really found useful was the practice tests that FISDAP had. They were a good way (if not the best way) to judge one's readiness...

    automated cpr

We are actually starting a 1 or 2 month demo of the same device as well. Our unit should be here in 2 weeks, and the Lucas rep should be here to with our medical director to write temporary standing orders for the medics.

    What do you think?

I have been a part of two vol departments (one only as a spouse of a member) who have done that. Both of them were in towns of 5000 people. My current one has trained two people to the PS level, so it does happen. I think it helps when you already have one, got the AlS service designation...

What is the difference between Advanced EMT and Paramedic training?

I just got my EMT-B after being on my department for nearly 1.5 years. (I wasn't authorized to do anything except documentation and drive.) My state (Iowa) is going to the new NHTSA scope of practice standard shortly, which eliminates the EMT-I position. How many clinical hours are...

    Congrats on passing.

Post the # your test stopped at, and if you Passed/Failed

Congrats Reese! It feels good to be done (at least temporarily), doesn't it? :-)

I had to have 48 total hours (24 field and 24 clinical), but could be required to do more if I did not provide any treatment (including just taking vitals or SAMPLE history) to at least 10 medical and 5 traumas in clinical ED, and at least 5 patients (even if they refused after being assessed...

    I think I failed :(

According to the 2005 AHA standards: For children, use 1 or 2 hands to perform chest compressions and compress at the nipple line; for infants, compress with 2 fingers on the breastbone just below the nipple line. Instead of only one hand for child and 1 finger width below the nipple line for...

    I think I failed :(

Well good luck nevertheless, and I had a similar thought this week about how well I did. If you don't pass, just start focusing on the subjects you did weakest or most baffled.

Reese - that is specifically why I changed my test from Friday to Thursday because I realized I couldn't handle a weekend of waiting for a response. You definitely have my empathy. :-)

    Scene Safety Scenario #2

Count me glad that in my small suburb town, PD shows up at all calls, and that my department typically rolls two vehicles to most calls. I realize that my department is probably not the typical EMT service being a volunteer FD / paramedic service.

    NREMT Study Methods...Any ideas?

You might also check **removed** as another study site. I just passed, but I am not sure any one thing can point you to a single source. What was different about this test than the prior class exams was it forced logical guesses or diagnosis on what was actually be asked. Know you stuff both...

Post the # your test stopped at, and if you Passed/Failed

I too got stopped exactly at 70 yesterday. I was not sure I passed, and if I had read some of the reports of being stopped that early and failing I might have really stressed. Honestly coming out of the exam, I was maybe 65-35 that I passed vs failed. The questions are just that whacked with...
