I also have one of these....it's not a bad little book.

    Paramedic administration of vaccinations

True, but don't forget where most paramedic medicine was developed. I could expect the future to hold some good IMM's for us to use.

Dispatched, 17 yo female, severe head/earache

Do yourself a huge favor here....don't assume anyone is afraid to administer pain meds. I'm sure there are people here who have seen some pretty incredible things. This is more of a "have to see it to believe it" things. Do you have any idea how sensitive the TM and EAC truly are? Might as well...

not when you're 12 minutes out and there's no reason to push pain meds on someone in this state of pain. supportive care...unless you wanna explain why a girl requiring a simple removal of the insect in the ED needed Dilaudid or whatever you're planning on giving.

    Nonrebreather with an Oral Airway?

my apologies, I thought we were talking about an unconcious patient...very hard to keep up with the postings at times.

    OEMS, some tips...

I've only come across a few of them, but if I come upon some I'll post the links on here.

Let's not forget that Versed for RSI increases ICP... Vecuronium would be my choice for a paralytic, as it is non-depolarizing.

Dispatched, 17 yo female, severe head/earache

Having pulled a few out in other parts of the world, I can tell you that they cause extreme pain, but there is no indication whatsoever to use pain management. IV access wouldn't really be a necessity, but can be established (what else are ya gonna do in 12 minutes...since it'll get done at the...

    N95 mask for school

Sounds to me like the program needs to ante up for them. That's the major problem these days, proper health care and prevention is based on cost....instead of need.

    Paramedic Field Guide

Definitely makes field appendectomies a little easier, haha. Yeah, we're not all put in that situation, but there's always a chance!

    OEMS, some tips...

Hetastarch is a colloidal VE with a half-life of about 30 hours. Last a good long while. We basically use it because it causes a significant increase in circulating volume. Great for unit tactics. There are some good reads on it, and occassionally you can find a non-military physician who can...

    OEMS, some tips...

I think the same thing myself. I'm sure there are certain variables that push one way or the other. Regardless, we've all thrown in some interesting things and have probably learned a thing or two...or at least questioned a thing or two. My guess would be a lot of the mistakes occur from blowing...

    Paramedic Field Guide

a few That is an excellent book....also check out the Special Operations Forces Medical Handbook. It's pricey, but if you're working remote or find yourself in a sticky situation, it can be an amazing tool....although it's a little bulky. Also available in PDA version for you techno-gurus (i've...

    Paramedic administration of vaccinations

military folks We give every immunization, so I'm not quite sure of state laws governing it. Whether it be Flu, Anthrax, Smallpox, JE, YF, Hep A and B, ppd testing, typhoid, dTap, and all pediatrics...we administer it and some of us run the whole program, depending on location and environment.

    Nonrebreather with an Oral Airway?

So was there a magical adjunct, or just skipping a step? If you're using an NRB, you should at least use some time of adjunct.
