So I heard a rumour that Falck Northwest is trying to get paramedics in king county to do ALS interfacility transports. I'm reaching out to some friends of mine to see what they know but wondering if any of the king county folks here know anything about what is going on.

I think that’ll be a tough battle. TriMed tried. Wound up going with a nurse.

I know that Falck wants to get rid of the nurses and just use medics for ALS and cct interfacilities. So it would not surprise me at all that they are trying.

Why does it need a nurse?

Nurses can't do prehospital EMS so no threat to the medic one system. Als paramedics can do prehospital so that is a threat.

I can say that I know for a fact that Falck is operating in the KC area and that they are implementing Paramedics for use in their IFTs.

Wow. What a paradigm shift. Are they requiring the medics to attend Harborview? Do they have to follow Medic One protocols? I wonder if they’ll have an expanded formulary.

I honestly never thought I’d see the day when a “non Medic One” Paramedic would be allowed to be credentialed in King County.

What jurisdiction does the IAFF have over private, non-union entities?
