I'll be moving to olympia, washington, next year. I work for a.m.r. and plan on transferring to either olympia, or centralia. I'm also open to seattle, but i'm not 100% certain about that, since the cost of living is so high. As an e.m.t. that will have just over 1 year of experience, when i transfer, what kind of pay can i expect ?

I'm a new EMT and work for a large service in the Tacoma area, pay is about 13.00 and hr for EMT, the company I work for is being bought out by the company you currently work for and the pay scale for them is a bit higher.

We do IFT transports and 911, I'm still new to this so everything is interesting still. My experience with my coworkers so far has been great, a lot of younger people who act professional and take pride in what they do.

I have found that most companies in the area pay about the same, the only way to make a living here is with lots of OT.

Yeah, it's about the same where I am now. I only make about $10.50 an hour right now. I've only been an emt for about 6 months myself, so i'm in the same boat as you. I work in mississippi right now. We do transfers and 911 also. I was honestly worried about being stuck on a transfer truck when we move back up north. I don't think i would have the patience for that. I'm glad to hear that the pay is a bit higher there. What's the cost of living like ?

Oh, and what is the call volume like where you work ? We average between 8-15 calls per shift here. Do you guys do 12's also ?

We are on 12's also. Call volume is about the same as your's. It's not the perfect job by any means, but for someone new to this like me, it's a lot of fun and a great learning experience.

That doesn't sound too bad . Thanks for all of the info.. I'm still pretty new myself. I've only been an e.m.t. for about 6 months myself. I'm still learning alot too. I really enjoy it too.
