what is the scope of practice for the US EMT-B and EMT-I
I would like to know how different we really are in Canada

Right now in New Jersey I believe EMT-B's are allowed to use Combi-tubes. It's either that or another type of intubation technique/equipment. I'll have to check.

In Minnesota EMT-B's can utilize combi-tubes too....and my service allows an IV variance for us too.

u know i always hear about combi tubes being used by B's and other good things. here in tulare county the NR test has the questions on it but we can't do it, we don't have a protocol for it or anything

We currently can use combi-tubes as basics. The service I work for is looking at switching to the King airway instead though.

In TN; EMT-b's can do combi's; they also trained us to do ET tubes; but I
have yet to see a service that allows such actions to be carried out
by BLS.

Pennsylvania includes all the basic treatment modalities (ie BCLS, O2, OB, bleeding control, etc) plus primary-use of epinephrine for anaphylaxis (carried onboard) and currently some counties are undergoing a pilot program for CPAP for BLS. And every BLS has AED and pulse oximetry as well.

In my mom's area, EMT-Bs can use combi-tubes. I don't know about my area, since nobody here is Basic. They're all Medics.
