St. Louis Area Paramedics

I am relocating next week from Cincinnati to St. Louis. I will be residing in St. Charles County, MO and would like to know of places to apply for. I do not want to work for a company that does only transfers, nor do I want to work for a company where I have to be a fire fighter as well. I am a paramedic and that's what I want to do. I don't mind doing transfers, I just don't want that to be all I do everyday. Anyone have any suggestions?

there is no shortage of 911 non fire ambulance companies in the area. I work in missouri bout 4 hrs away and frequently transport pt to st louis. there are always a bay for of an assortment of ambulances. you should have a problem. get your missouri lis. its super easy. you need a national card, a cpr card, a back ground check and their little application. fax it to jefferson city and they will get you your card. for medic you may need a current acls and pals but i'm not sure so dont hold me to that one.

Apply at St. Charles for sure. I know several of the people that work for them. They are a class act. They take their training very serious. St. Charles is a nice city too.

I must publicly acknowledge the state of Missouri. I filled out and faxed in my application for reciprocity early yesterday morning. I received my license in the mail today. I have never seen any governmental office respond so efficiently and without any red tape. Three cheers for user friendliness in Missouri.

Asclepius, Abbott EMS is a regional private service that covers all of St Louis. As a medic you will do mostly nursing home to ER, but Abbott does cover 911 for a few communities south of highway 64. As DT4EMS said, its a good place to start.

St Louis County services are primary FF/Medic that require both. A few counties surrounding St Louis have Fire Dept's that run just paramedic ambulances.
