So I've been a firefighter for ~7 years now and recently married. I've always wanted to become an EMT and I realize now my wife will want a kid soon and I'll never again have time to go back to the fire academy. I recently joined the local EMS and class starts Feb 2. I am very much looking forward to it and look forward to learning from everyone here. I've got a lot of training w/ the fire academy now, just need the EMT cert. :)

Welcome!!!

Welcome, good luck and congrats.....

Congrats, and good luck!! I just finished EMT-B school and passed my national registry. It's work, but it's worth it!!

Biggie, just curious, why can't you go back (huh????) to fire academy just cause your wife wants (don't you want too????) a baby? I'm a little confused here.

You do know that EMS is just as crazy as fire, right?

Welcome to the tribe!! :):):)

I just want to get the training done now while I have time. Fire is 24/7 (I'm still a member of a vol FD) but EMS is shift work which I like a lot better. Atleast once I sit down for the day I know wether or not I should be responding..make sense? I don't want to go through the EMT training while the wife is home with a newborn so what I'm saying is I need to get the training part done before that happens..:)
