I am taking my EMT-B practical exam in about a week. I was just wondering what clothes everyone dressed in for their practicals. The place I am going to says dress professionally but appropriate for the situation. I don't know if this means wear your school EMS uniform or "business casual" or what. Let me know what you think.

Wear something loose enough to allow freedom of movement, what you would wear to treat a patient. Clean, free from obvious tears and stains. Something along the lines of the uniform you will be wearing when you actually treat the patients.

When I did practicals I always wore my uniform as I found that helped me a lot to get into the moment. When I was preparing for my paramedic practical I was surprised to find out there are a number of others who would make the same recommendation.

I would not recommend wearing your uniform for several reasons. One is potential contradiction and conflicts if the examiner has worked at your service or a competitor. The other presents yourself as a "whacker" and no need of wearing such at an event. Uniforms should be reserved for work, or special events as a professional.

I agree. For practical testing, most people wear comfortable clothes, not uniforms.

Just don't go too comfortable and wear something that may make you look bad or something that isn't decent. (dirty and wrinkled shirts, short skirts, etc.) Even though you aren't graded on appearence, it dosent mean you should show up trashy.

jeans, polo shirt, sneakers. Comfy, and it works.
