I haven't done any of my clinicals yet, and I am an EMT-B student. I was wondering what should I bring to the clinical site? I am doing two 24hr shifts at the Fire Department and 4 12 hour shifts (2 day shifts and 2 night) What all should I bring?

Stethoscope
Uniform
BP Cuff
Pen Light
Eye Protection
Trauma Shears
Money: 10-20 Bucks each shift for food.

FD Specific supplies
Pillow?
Blanket?
Sheet?

The Clinical Coordinator for my college said I should bring these three things for my FD shift.
My only problem is I will not be bringing a car. Sadly I am getting dropped off so I can not just leave things in the car. I was wondering what your opinions were on what to bring. Thanks for the help.

I don't see why you need your own cuff, unless you just like your cuff (i.e. trigger grip vs thumb screw).

As for pillow sheet blanket whatever yeah. But for my clinical I just took food money. That's it.

$10 is probably not enough for food for 24 hours. Buying in to dinner is usually $5 minimum.

Bring the pillow and stuff, bring your stethoscope if you are partial to it, forget the rest. Put a change of clothes in your bag. Have fun.

Bring some boxes of granola/cereal bars that you can munch on. Don't bank on having time to stop and eat a real meal when you get hungry. Having some (reasonably healthy and substantial) snacks on hand can make a big difference and help keep your energy levels up.

Also, bring food for other people. Grab a dozen donuts, some muffins from the grocery store, whatever. This will help build a rapport and make people more inclined to like you from the start.

Just bring a sleeping bag, and a small duffel bag for the items. Have a change of clothes in case you get thrown up on, or bled on. You should be allowed to use their showrers, so clean up and change out after the shift, so you don't bring any pathogens into the car and your home.

Go with the donuts the first day, too.

You guys are great!

I will bring a bag of clothes, a pillow, a sleeping bag, and donuts like you all said. Oh and thanks for the warning about the money!!! I can't believe how fast my thread filled up with responses. Wish me luck on first clinical!!!

Bring an IPad and charging cords if allowed. I also brought my own stethoscope when I was a student and still do because I am partial to it.
