Banned words list

Is there a banned words list or any guideline to language use on the forum. I'm always afraid of violating it, and way back when I first started here I think I got a warning for it, but darn it!, sometimes I want to use a well placed, choice word to emphasize my strong feelings for it!

I'm assuming anything sexually explicit, but is there any guideline that we follow? I wasn't able to find it in the rules.

If you use obscenity, the forum will censor it. If you attempt to thwart the censor, you'll get a message from a CL.

A good way to think about it, if you wouldn't say it in front of your mother, sister or grandmother, it doesn't belong here.

"Be polite" is our first rule. Also a motto to remember; "if you can't say something nice...

Threads that mention guns as they are related to EMS will be allowed, as long as they stay civil and on topic. Others may be moderated.

All of the forum rules may be reviewed under the green rules tab at the top of each page.

The issue isn't the use of words, we automatically censor the bad ones. We don't allow users to circumvent the filters nor do we allow members to attack other members.

    Example:

Okay: I had one hell of a call last night...
Not so much: Why the hell do you keep spouting trash out of your :censored::censored::censored::censored:ing mouth like that, no one cares.

    Not always.
This is an EMS forum, not a political forum. You want to discuss liberal or conservative, go elsewhere.

This is an EMS forum, not a gun forum. You want to discuss gun ownership or gun control, go elsewhere.

You don't like the rules here then go elsewhere.

This is not to say that we immediately shutdown every topic covering politics or guns, but they've never ended well here. We generally let them go until people start getting butthurt over comments made by others, and stop being polite in their response. At that point, we will step in and shut down the thread.

Politics, religion, abortion, and gun control are all topics that people feel very passionately about. When they get discussed here, members let their emotions override their civility, and that's what gets them in trouble and the thread being closed or removed. Based upon years of past experience on these topics, any time they are brought up they automatically become something the Community Leaders monitor more closely.

Occasionally I get censored coins and I didn't do anything. Any good 'bot will make the occasional mistake.

Is using an uncensored synonym of a bad word considered censor evasion?

This actually makes a lot more sense now. When I first joined, I got an infraction for trying to circumvent the filter. What I didn't realize was that because the forum self censors, I should have just typed the word rather than trying to type the first and last letters and symbols in between.

Of course you scared me form that point forward that I just really tried to use 1st grade language from that point out. "Wow, what a bunch of sensitive people that they can't even handle my pound sign, exclamation points, and asterisks!"

Even that is a tad ambiguous - it's one thing to write S**t.. it's something else to write $hit. Same with @ss, etc. Those are usually warnings, and usually done to explain why we edited the post. don't get too worried about them.

And **** isn't in the censor list because it's a proper name. :)
