I think starting was around $35,000-40,000. Hospitals may pay more for starting salary but I tihnk its around $20-22/hr in a hospital...
I quit my emt job and now work in the hospital. It pays double what I made as a basic but I miss BLS. It was a unique job. I intend to volunteer and maybe go...
Very interesting! I still am considering paramedic as a backup plan (not to take anything away from being a paramedic), but I'd like to go into nursing, as I had an interest prior to taking my EMT course.
Also, does anyone on here know if there's a paramedic challenge exam for nurses? If...
Well, I still intend on going to nursing school. I've gotten all the pre-reqs done but here in NY its getting harder and harder to get into school on a part time status if you work full-time. Bachelor degree holders can now mostly only enter 2nd Degree ACCELERATED pathways...I have to work. And...

I just figured perhaps nursing was the next logical choice in patient care, as I see by the number of EMTs I worked with in my private company who went to nursing school. While those factors you mentioned are valid, you also have to take into account that nursing isn't for everyone. I know a PA...
Are supervisors from private companies allowed to 800 (check) you and your volunteer bus? Just wondering because I ran into a supervisor from a private company and he asked to see all our stuff. What about FDNY supervisors?
i agree, but it gets boring after a while. while these are true emergencies that i feel are masked by nursing homes, a call for sepsis or a peg tube removal is unappealing after you get to know what it is.
needless to say i quit my IFT ems job the first week of jan -- i got a better paying job...
Morning: Check ambulance to make sure all supplies are on board.
Start of day: Transport patient from hospital back to nursing home / private residence.
Midday: you may get an emergency call for sepsis/peg tube replacement/abdominal pain/psych transport or you may get posted at a location...
