Also if you carry hot packs and it isn't against your protocols, sometimes applying a hot pack(with proper insulation) will help pop some veins up. If you are worried about valves, run your finger down the vein proximal to distal, and where the vein won't flatten is your valve. You are pushing...
Some History: I am a healthy nineteen year old adult male. I was diagnosed with ADHD and chronic depression when I was thirteen. Welbutrin was used to treat both, however it was discontinued four years ago when I had my depression under control. Recently with potential jobs with Fire departments...
well beyond the fact he is refusing to eat, extremely dehydrated and is an eight time national agility champion, who we really didn't want to die, nothing. :P
Just interviewed on Monday for my Fire Department EMS reserves.I was nervous, but I knew one of the people who did the interview and she says I did fine, but now I'm just waiting for the call back. Any advice for a new EMT going through the academy and starting working for the first time?
I'm going to throw my .02 cents in. Something that my post count should tell you I don't do very often. But I disagree with it being an age thing completely. Heck I even disagree with it being an experience thing. I'm one of the younger (19) EMT's, and I was a FR at 17. I'm also going to argue...
Wow brown that super sucks, I am sorry to hear that. Pediatrics just suck, plain and simple. I volunteer for the BoyScouts in my area, and I had to put a kid on an ambulance today with a back injury, made me very sad. I hope all is well!
ahh, APRZ is the best I can type ∆ too, so now everyone knows the true meaning of my name. ∆CHANGE. Wrap your head around that. Glad to see you are back Brown. Lucid, I wish I was in the mountains right now, it was ninety six here today. I am miserable as I don't have AC.

If there is a thread, its so old that I don't want to Necro it.
Heard this one today while watching TV, wondered if you all had some.

I was shocked...
set up IV bags of what? With my IV I can already hang LR and NS, and the basic EKG course lets me set up electrodes for twelve leads. I would love the knowledge base anyways, because Cardiology and the meds fascinate me. Thanks!
And I will thread hijack, if you get your ACLS as a basic, does your scope change for doing so? I am looking for a class, because I want to learn, but will it be immediately applicable if I do get the card?
The stridor definitely pushes me in the way of allergic reaction, could be an unknown toxin. Vitals don't seem bad though, so I can't say for sure, but with hives and diffuse itching, I am definitely thinking systemic allergic reaction to something.
