Medics upset over Long Beach pilot deployment plan

So this pilot program will probably work out just fine and open the flood gates to 1-1 here in LA Co. time for changes, I think I will call it quits next year 16 years in, but change is good. This works everywhere else and it should just work just fine here.

Nurses Balking About Proposed Calif. Paramedicine Program

Nurses Balking About Proposed Calif. Paramedicine Program Aug. 12--Paramedics could have a bigger say over where 911 emergency patients are treated and aid in their recovery after hospitalization under a proposal to expand their health care roles -- a move opposed by nurses unions. So are any...

Paramedics sued for not entering house with o2

Well if I could pull 130k somewhere else, I might think about it, but my whole point was that these two knuckle heads looked sloppy and presented their selves in a poor light, that reflects very badly on Philly FD. I take some pride were I work and iam glad I have a company officer to take some...

Agreed about the running, and yeah you should see the video, unfortunately this was just a bad outcome, but if you look like a slob then bad things can happen hell if you looked uniformed and professional the heat can still come your way "Micheal Jackson", but I'am just trying to compare this...

Paramedics sued for not entering house with o2

First impression is how, I know I don't run into every call but I walk with some in intent, and just plan image. When people call 911 they want a triathlete who can handle there problem and I didn't see that in the video, shallow maybe, but again where I come from physical fitness and high...

Paramedics sued for not entering house with o2

From the video all I can say without a doubt is that 1: the standards of this EMS agency seem low, and or 2: the two individuals who responded or low standard employees. I know not all are fire based ems supporters are on this site, but where I come from a big metro area in Los Angeles this...

    ambulance driver

I know of a another BIG fire department within the county I work in, and they use contracted ambulance drivers, for the most part many of the medics I know from that department won't let them take vitals, they just make them do their job whisch to load the gurney and drive.

    Using EMT Skills off-duty

Don't use your skills off duty, that is what 911 is for. The only time I've seen my friends use their skill and I'am talking ALS stuff was for a syncope patient on a flight coming back from Hawaii, up in the air you can do what ever you need to do, and the flight attendents are very greatful.

    Average income of a paramedic

This coming fall LAFD will be hiring, you could make anywhere from about 60k to 120k your first year, that is if you can make it through probation, and as a bonus you get to live in sunny southern Cali, with no tornados, midwest humidityor any of the other messed up weather that the rest of the...

Why are Paramedics paid so little?

In a couple of our last academies, we had recruits from Medstar, bunch of them relocated from Texas to southern Cali, wonder why? I don't think education hours and protocols where the reason.

    CA to OH Reciprocity questions

Well then if you plan to work as a medic, I would suggest calling one of the local counties, like LA, San berdu, riverside, or San Diego and ask the medical director how to go about getting the required field time, you might have to pay for a preceptor and UCLA offers the required hours in their...
