What equipment should I buy for my EMT class?

A good watch. That's all that I needed but wasn't provided by the class and, IIRC, it's required to take the state practical.

What equipment should I buy for my EMT class?

Two bags of grass, seventy five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half filled with cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers... also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two...

    "Pull to the Right" PSA

They must have sent our county the "slow down near the crest of a hill, then sort of pull over and creep along" PSA by accident.

    everyone carries trauma shears, but...

If you visit your local Central Processing department at the hospital, I'm sure they'd be happy to package and sterilize your shears. I have no idea why you'd want to to that, but if 270 @ 70 for 15 makes you happy, rock out :)

Best place in the states to find an EMT-B job?

The OP wasn't born in America?

    interview attire

Buy a flight suit with lots of reflective tape. Wear a FF hat. Wear your steth. Ask if you can use your own defib on duty. Also, lots of Stars of Life. :-) Hard to go wrong with a suit and tie. At least nice trousers, a nice pressed shirt and a tie.

    Neurological tests

I can't believe I forgot to mention this but he stated he had nerve damage "behind ... right ear" due to a MVA in 1950. Other than that, no medical history. For the sensory tests I lightly pinched the skin on the top of his hand and asked him what I was doing and to which hand. I didn't...

    Neurological tests

Dispatched to a fall victim. 70yo W male, had fallen earlier in the day and the ambulance crew provided a lift assist and got a refusal. Five hours later we were sent out again. Entered the house, well-kept and clean, to find pt sitting in recliner with a walker nearby. He was able to tell...

Why you don't ever use the Q Word.

No, just a computer geek that inhabits lots of geeky forums. It's a great symbol, i'm surprised no ASCII character exists.

Brown's really awesome super hard scenario

This interests me. I'm a fan of the (already discounted) theories of a spinal bleed or a slow retro-peritoneal bleed. Other than that I'll revert to my 110hrs of training, give oxygen (15lpm of course) and go to the hospital where the doctor people exist. I'll pray that an actual...

Why you don't ever use the Q Word.

Be thankful that Nashville != NOLA.

The whole acting off duty topic.

I wasn't familiar with the procedure. It seems that a patient, or their family, can easily find out who you are with minimal effort.

Drug testing how far back does it go?

    Chronic? :-)

The whole acting off duty topic.

For everyone that's "hiding" their name badge/tape... does your hospital include the PCR in the patients chart? Doesn't that have the name of the responding personnel? I'm not too worried about it. I carry a sidearm everywhere I'm legally allowed which, in the fine free state of...

    Dear EMT

"Is there anything you'd like me to help you with?" "Would you like me to put the pt on 15lpm/NRB?" I've seen some ignorant EMT's act like the medic was hindering their assessment. I've also seen some EMT's that have taken the "ALS Assistant" Course offered in PA that would get the...

For all the anti-union people who trust the management......

When "workers" seek more money they always claim it's "fair", yet when their bosses seek more money it's "greed". I'd be happy if every single union disbanded. If I were magically put in charge of Ford, GM or any other big union company my first job would be to fire every single union...

Where can I take my career?

I'm interested in seeing what options I'd have, and how to best reach those goals, that involve my love of the outdoors, EMS and my future -P tag. NPS LEO Ranger? Professional SAR team (I wish!)? I'm soon to join the Civil Air Patrol as a "medic", at a EMT-b level, and an aerial...
