    EKG Interpretation

Its actually not an "EMT-B EKG reading" class, it is not affiliated with the EMT program in any way, just the same school. This is an EKG/ECG Interpretation certification course. I just felt that additional knowledge in the function of the heart and the ability to read and interpret EKG's would...

    EKG Interpretation

It was recommended by our instructor as a supplement to the course, so I got it at the beginning of the course. I agree it does seem to be a very good read so far. I also got another recommended book called "Rapid Interpretation of EKG's" by Dale Durbin, which I read before the course which...

    EKG Interpretation

I just started an EGK Interp course at the community college where I did my EMT-1 training. I have to say it is an eye opener, I started to realize how little I knew or understood about the function of the human heart. The course is very exciting and challenging, I have found myself yearning for...

    EMt-B study guide

Our instructor encouraged just that, any way you could reinforce the classroom lecture they were all for. The Brady Audio was also a very good purchase, I still listen to it to this day. It is a great way to keep info fresh in your head. The EMS Magazine is also very helpful for up to date...

    EMt-B study guide

Yes I did, but the online version. It is basically a more comprehensive guide to the study questions that are available in the book and on the website. Worth the money for classroom testing purposes, many questions that were on our exams were in the online study guide.

How many survived your EMT class?

Our class started with around 30 students, we finished with 14 passing, and 7that did not pass the class, the rest quit or were asked to leave. I did notice that the ones who did the best in the class were the older students, like myself. The 2 oldest students finished with the highest grades, I...

    Pre-nursing or EMT to Paramedic?

I am in a similar situation as you are, but i have decided to go the EMT-1 to Paramedic. We now have a Paramedic to RN bridge program that was just approved this year. The reason I am going that route is because the waiting list for the local RN program is 1-3 years ans I figure I can get into...

    The "Whacker" in You

Good for you, you are absolutely correct about the fact that you should be proud of your accomplishments. Yes it is only 120 or 130 hour course, but unfortunaately that is all that is offered to us as a starting point in EMS. Some go on to medic school, or PA school, or nursing school, great...

    The "Whacker" in You

Funny thread, but good. I have a first aid kit that I have carried for at least 12 years, the age of my oldest kid, guess why. And yes I do keep it up to date, and it has been used many, many times. Now I put my stethoscope in there as well because that is the best place I found for it. I do...

Are most EMS personnel THIS unprofessional?

Having been in the military and having gone through basic training, your assessment of whether or not an "initiation" is undergone is just flat out wrong. You go through an initiation unlike anything you ever experienced. It begins in basic training, then into AIT, then into your first duty...

Were your EMT-B class tests Top Secret?

Ours were available to any student at anytime after each class. The majority of the time it was to see what you had missed and get clarification on a question/answer. We were also able to challenge any question/answer we gave on any exam and if our case was presented well enough the intructor...

    Suggestions for Medic School

I have a question that I believe some here may be able to help me with. I just in the past month passed the NREMT-B test, got my county card and my ambulance certificate. I would seriously like to go to medic school as soon as possible, but here in CA the schools that i have found will not take...

Try going to this address and then type in the info. it asks for: https://www.nremt.org/nremt/EMTServices/verify_cand_status.asp?link=1 Thats where I was able to get my results, the site is a bit difficult to navigate, if you are unfamiliar with it. If you tested on Sat. you probably...

    NREMT - B Monday

I just took mine last week and like you was nervous. I think the one thing that helped me alot was 2 days befor th test I just stopped reading or studying anything in preparation for the test. I think sometimes we can over prepare and we need time to let our brains just relax and quit trying to...

    Ambulance Certificate in Ca.

I still did not get an answer to what kind of evidence they require as proof that you are a certified EMT. One guy told me a copy of my class diploma would be ok, another told me that the NREMT card would be ok, and yet another told me that I need the card fom the state of Ca? I asked what card...

    Ambulance Certificate in Ca.

I went to the DMV today to get my application for the ambulance cert. that California requires. All I can say is, WOW, that had to be the most miserable experience at the DMV ever. First, no one there knows what is needed for an applicant to have to get an ambulance cert. I arrived at the office...

Principles of Patient Assessment in EMS by Bob Elling

I found it to be a fantastic book, I used it as a supplement in my EMT-B class to the course text. You can find it on ebay for much less than at Amazon, I got mine for $1.99 + S/H.

A little different kind of a question

The foreign language is an elective I am taking, I am just about finished with A&P and Med Terminology. I am not suggesting taking the foriegn language to learn terminology, I am asking if you had the choice what would you take to further enhance your understanding of the derivatives of the...
