It's a little depressing to realize that a lot of the people on this forum are younger than my 3 daughters- the baby is 24. Oh well, I do enjoy the enthusiasm and wit that the younger set bring to this party

Another reminder that winter is not over and poor driving conditions are a real threat.
My thoughts and prayers go out to all involved
In the town where I live the Law Enforcement/ Fire department were joined under one Director. But that did not last when the Fire Department found out that state law required that Police departments had to be be run by a certified law enforcement officer. However, that did not keep the Fire...
Here in MN it is twenty below at Ten in the morning. Underarmor is good stuff, but there are pleny of other wicking type undergarments that will keep you warm without making you too sweaty. Check out your local Target or Walmart. The only caution I would add is that polypro is hard to keep odor...
One group to look at is people who work schedules other than 9-5. For instance shift workers and those who work 12 hr shifts. These people sometimes are looking for ways to connect with the community since their schedules put them out of sync with so much of the community.

I work at a Nuclear power plant. I ended up there after working at a coal fired plant. Prior to that I worked in the oilfields of Wyoming for 13 years. My observation is that this is the safest place I have worked.
All that aside, I am what is called a nonlicensed operator. I monitor and...
Background checks alone probably won't prevent someone with no prior offenses from getting into EMS. I have seen a suggestion of psychological screening in earlier post and that makes sense. The other thing that might help is periodic repeat background checks. Certain security clearances require...
