    Injured K9 EMS treatment?

No, no luck. The dog belonged to neighbors of mine at the time. Funny you should ask about FB pics; https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=59751910627&set=a.59750365627.85868.516855627&type=1&theater It is actually my favorite picture from my career. Not sure if that link will work.

Nothing big, just attempted to resuscitate a dog at a fire scene.

    Injured K9 EMS treatment?

Probably a stupid reply but I did do mouth to snout on a full size dog many years ago and had no problem with an open airway. No resistance noted at all. Having tried it on a human and a dog, I would do it to a dog anytime over a human. Very easy skill actually. Now back to your regularly...

    Emt-tactical

Maybe I am just being cranky tonight but it seems someone taking a TEMS course NOT involved with an agency as a TEMS provider just makes for one big checkoff in the "this guy is a whacker' box. The closest thing to a national standard for Tactical EMS training would be CONTOMS put on by the...

Emergency Response Training, LLC ...any good?

Looks like it might give you a good basic overview of WFA. If you do not want to travel, this would work well enough depending on what your goals and needs are. If you want to drive several hours north, Look at SOLO http://www.soloschools.com/ These guys are the REAL DEAL. WMA in Maine is...

    SRT Medic

Generally a team approaches it's area EMS agency and looks to add a TEMS element to their existing team. In most cases nowadays teams have already added TEMS. In Maine it is a mandate if you wish to be State certified as a team. It is not a job you apply for from the outside. Research police...

I would think NYS EMS laws and regulations would be posted somewhere on the State website.

    Esophageal Airway

Yeah EOAs required you to maintain a mask seal but if you ran codes with no advanced airway options, the EOA was a GODsend. Immediately you did not have to worry about vomitus and only an idiot would put one in wrong (unfortunately there was an unacceptable amount of idiots out there I guess). I...

Patient Care Reports - Paper or Electronic

Maine EMS mandated all services use some NEMSIS Gold standard software. They have gotten Federal grant money that allowed services (mine included) to buy toughbooks with Imagetrend for $1000. I do not 3.8 but 4.0+ was a mess. I used it at another service and the medics made so much noise about...

Surprised your LEO team does not have Medics. In Maine, if you want to be state certified, you need a TEMS element.

    Emt-tactical

This from the CONTOMS website; 1. Certification at the EMT-B level or higher; a scanned copy must be emailed to Ashley Bordas (a.bordas@trueresearch.org) when submitting the online registration. 2. A letter of affiliation on letterhead from a senior official representing the student's...

Which website are you referring to? CONTOMS? Are you affiliated with any agency?

    Emt-tactical

FWIW, It is the certification given upon completion of CONTOMS. They issue a card which is good for 2-3 years. Recert requires documented tactical and medical continuing ed and active participation as a TEMS/TMP provider . Not recognized by any licensing organization.

    TCCC vs TEMS Class

As was stated before FITNESS FITNESS FITNESS. As far as shooting, find out what the agency is using for a weapons system before investing $$$ in training on one. Know that 90% of your job is doing sick call and being an athletic trainer etc. Your job #1 is to keep your guys operational and in...

    TCCC vs TEMS Class

First, do you have an agency that you are interested in joining as a TEMS provider? Do they have an interest in you? Generally TEMS is not a job you apply for. It usually comes out of your EMS agency having or starting a relationship with a Law Enforcement agency looking for Medics to add a TEMS...
