    paramedic pay in fla??

I work for Wakulla County, the coastal County just south of Tallahassee. I used to work for Polk County, and they also had EMTs start ivs. I also spent just shy of 5 years at the State EMS office, which is where I gathered my information - by doing inspections on nearly every agency in...

    paramedic pay in fla??

It was for us, eagles were way to sensitive to the abuse. The patient ended up with no vent more often than not. The autovent4000s are more rugged and seem to stand up better in our world. I'd also like to add that the EMT iv practice is fairly limited to 911 services that staff emt/medic...

Article Skip Kirkwood and I just did

The don't ask don't tell concept is pervasive throughout ems, especially staff safety, and not only violence, but lifting and moving heavy, heavyweight people as well. Nicely Done Sir.

    paramedic pay in fla??

All but propofol, and we just dumped our eagle vents for autovent4000s. We also have LP15 with esophageal temp. Dilaudid for pain, plus ativan. Versed, and the standards. Not to forget haldol just in case. The only delay in hypothermia induction is the hospital. And I don't work for, or...

    paramedic pay in fla??

Yes that is true, in addition to an EMT working on an ALS truck, with a Paramedic partner, that has been trained and approved by the medical director, can start ivs without being in paramedic school. This is a capability used throughout the State.

What type of watch do you have?

I have the same problem; however, Mine is related to tolerating the quality of the metals. After loosing my beloved stainless Rolex GMT master 2, I had a problem finding a watch that felt like it was there. I found the Citizen eco-drive all stainless steel for around $350-ish at a watch /...

    Your first code

My first code was as an EMT student. I rode with the most awesome, hippy, Paramedic you have ever met. We ran a mid 60's male with chest pain When in the ambulance she gave the patient a medicine and afterwards he grabbed my hand and said it made him feel funny... And he coded. Unlike...

    How old are you?

40 I've been in EMS all of my adult life. There is a lot of good advice stated so far. Mine is: Just because it isn't an emergency to you, doesn't mean it's not an emergency to your patient, so be kind and do your best.

    private company cut backs

With exception of Florida, someone must provide, or it falls to the County. The majority of Counties provide their own. Some through fire, most as a third service model. I guess having spent my career here in this very hot State - I've become used to the way it is done here. Thanks for the...

    Dispatched for Dizziness and Vomiting

I'm with you...inferior wall mi, anterior branch is likely seeing the vitals. Back in the day we'd give a ntg and duck. Now we do v4, 5, and 6r evals to preempt the bp dump. Inferiors tend to have diaphragmatic irritation s/s like n/v. Hard to truly say sitting here, but it is entertaining to...

    Pay decrease?

I have been a career paramedic for a long time. I've had the privilege of a job I mostly love that has also fed my family and funded my mortgage. While I definitely promote checking it out, for real, before jumping permanently, if it's for you - as it is for many of us - it is a great career...
