All units (BLS and ALS) in my service carry the 2 Mark-1 and 2 Escape hoods for the crew. I for one hope never to use them. And I hope if I DO have to use them I don't have a third rider on board! :)
They're cliche, but some things to remember are:
It is NOT your emergency. If the patient dies en route, the extra time really means nothing. I know, I know, time is heart muscle etc, but not worth getting into an accident. Remember, it's better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
You...
Steriods. Stay competitive like the athletes!
Ok, in reality, in line with your strength techniques above, look at your body mechanics. A LOT of what we do is based on lifting correctly. And this isn't just for the test, its for life. Remember, you will be out of a job for life if you blow out...
In Ireland the amount of alcohol imbibed is taken into account.
First Offence:
Not exceeding 44 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath: 1 Year disqualification
Exceeding 44 microgrammes but not exceeding 66 micorgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath: 2 Years...
Same in MA. Why would a company, a good one at least, take the chance when they will have a large number of applicants with clear history.
I agree that I'm glad to see it keeping people out. Shows utter lack of judgement on your part. I wouldn't be comfortable with someone with poor judgement...
Yep. I know for a fact they do. It's a 4 part test:
Practical, Written, Map reading and finally interview. All on one day. It's grueling but I like to know the people that I work with passed it! If you are planning to work in Cataldo, I have to say they are a good company to work for.
Also, if you notice, other medics use gloves on patients.
I'd say it's more a device used by Scorcase to highlight his emotional turmoil and decent into burnout.
When you're looking at companies to work in, I would advise one that has a test. Reason being, at least you know the people working there are good and can still do the job!
Good luck!
Perhaps the public will see the show and say "Wow. So THAT's what I should be calling an ambulance for. Perhaps I shouldn't dial 911 because I cut my finger"
Yes you passed your practicals. Well done.
For the Written, which I'm sure you';ll have questions about, remember to read the last few chapters of the book. There were 15 questions on ambulance operations on my written.
Good luck
I don't know what the job market in MI is like, but in MA a lot of companies are hiring. Like Linuss said, just be persistent. Email companies, and call them after a few days, and you should be set in no time.
Good luck
In 04 my NREMT Practical test was the same scenario, except on an adult choking.
The purpose of the test was I suppose to show that sometimes in the real world you just wont get an airway back. But once you do all the steps in your scope of practice, you should be fine, once you knew to call...
One of the hospitals that serve my area has a really nice break room with 2 computers, TV 2 couches, fridge with soda and water, fresh coffee maker (you know the one cup krueger kind) and donuts in the mornings. It's a preferred facility!
The one I go to most is helpful and I have a good repose...
