If im not mistaken, sometimes nausea and vomiting could be the only symptom of myocardial infarction. Especially in older populations where there may be little to no pain at all
Where i work the general consensus is if theyre going to the ER, the ER expects us to have a line in place. It just looks better when bringing a pt in. Its less work for the hospital staff, it gives them a quicker route to giving meds or getting labs, and generally just makes us look better that...
I dont believe so, im usually fast. Perhaps though. All i know for sure was that the whole station went wrong for me. I pretty much knew i failed something when i walked out.
Yeah i got the skill sheet. And to the above, im not sure where i failed. I know i didnt verify placement with saline. I aspirated though and when he told me i wasnt getting any marrow i forgot that they are dry sticks and thought i placed the io in the wrong spot. Thinking i messed up, i took...
Ok so do you draw up saline directly from the bag, remove the needle and then screw/attach it to extension set? Or just connect the extension set to tubing and aspirate and draw from the tubing?
For advanced our class is at 50% right now for AEMT. Im pretty sure its in line with national standards which is pretty dang sad that theyve made it this hard. We had 100% on EMT though. We have some great instructors as well.
Theres a few departments around that still hire EMT's, although they will probably push you to go advanced and youve got a much better shot with advanced. Im pretty sure Bartow utilizes EMT's still, and a few non-emergencys like Amtran.
Hey guys, had a quick question about the IO AEMT station. Im not a fan of the stopcock so my preference is the aspiration-saline injection via extension set method. I was wondering since most iv tubing has a med-port, is the extension set even needed? I should simply be able to crimp the tubing...
Damn man sorry to hear that. Keep your head up, i took my basic back in august and it absolutely sucked. I got my AEMT NR test in a week and a half. We're all in the same boat bud lol
Hey there! Im also in the metro atl area and about to take NR as well for AEMT. Just finished AEMT school last week :D We use the same book as you do and apparently its top of the line. I heard from a guy who passed it before my class went through, and he said he just went through the book...
Thanks for the welcome! And im gonna use that joke from now on lol. Im definitely up for it no doubt. All i think about nearly 24/7 is my EMS future. No backup plan for me, this is it
Hey guys! New EMT here, (Formerly NREMT-B, now its "EMT" - fancy) currently in school for AEMT and then eventually starting Medic school in December. Looking forward to talking with everybody and exchanging stories throughout my (hopefully) long EMS career! Dad was an EMT/Firefighter in NY for...
