I guess my age is catching up with me. Please -I would rather work in piece and quiet. I just seem to like to talk to my patients - kids and all.
When the sh-- hits the fan I also do not have another distraction to deal with.

I should have gotten into this thread before - I posted in another. Our region is looking into the SALT airway as well. Saw the videos etc. Find no clinical studies etc however. Just interested in more information as well.

I love the challenge of running a small EMS non-profit.
I love to mature budding EMT's into Paramedichood.
I particularly love seeing the enthusiasm of a crew after an exciting challenging call and critique it wtih them.

What was your most SPECTACULAR (or scarey) equipment failure yet?
Critical engine failure while responding to hopsital with a pediatric arrest secondary to drowning.
2 year old later died.
NY State allows it but yes it is up to the Regionall Medical Director here as well. We use Quick-Trach it has been in our protocols for about 10 years I guess. I have only done one -- but it was the first in our region --- on a severe airway inhalation burn.

I rememember this like it happened today. I was home off shift doing some bills and checkbook stuff and was listening to the news. First one plane then another. My crew and I were on rotation for Disaster Team Response. I knew we were going to get called. I becan calling my crew and got ready...
Ahhh --- Rescue (you) -- If I were your chief I would tell you to take a chill pill - Just take a night or two on duty at the station. When you are off duty - do something besides listening to the scanner -- try a nice county music station instead
