I see no mention by the OP of it being chronic.
The ER tech might be good, but I think you might get sick of it pretty quick, at least I've been told by some people I know that do it. It's about 50/50, either love it or hate it, it seems. Maybe you could get into nursing. I don't know how you...
This. Is. It. Seriously, if I had your life, I would do exactly that. You will be very happy with yourself, I think, especially because the amount of raw experience you will have beyond what your nursing peers will have while in school. It will definitely put you ahead, and unlike most jobs...
Howdy guys,
I've seen all the schools of thought on the classic "When should I go on to Medic school" question. For me, I subscribe to the belief that I need to solidify my skills and be comfortable with being a guy on an ambulance, treating patients, before I have to take it to the next...
I really don't appreciate being told I'm clueless. A simple explanation of why I was wrong, and perhaps teaching me what I said that was wrong would have been more than sufficient. Were you trying to learn once, or were you born into superiority?
I understand the thought process. I'm aware...
actually you might want to add in the correction factors in order to correctly analyze the pressure due to the attractive IPF that occur with such a high pressure and ammount of gas:
(P+[n^2a/V^2])(V-nb)=nRT
But, sorry to use a relevant example to explain how dangerous and volitile these tanks...
People like this ruin EMS's rap.
As Linuss said, not only is smoking IN (or even near) an ambulance illegal, it is extremely dangerous. Oxygen tanks are bombs.

That...
This is an extremely hypothetical case, but I am curious to know the answer:
"My husband and I were asleep and I woke up 2 hours ago and he wasn't breathing, I just called now because he is very old like me (87), and he had a DNR"
^ crazy, I know, don't comment on this, but if she called...
In the OP's defense, when I took my EMT course, ride time was not required...
...don't worry I still volunteered because I don't want to be the dumbass :)
We were all newbies/greenhorns once. Cut him some slack.
To the OP: As many people already said, some hospitals have different...
Somehow the thread "What do you carry 24/7..." became "In a succinct and highly subjective argument, defend or otherwise discredit the second amendment"
That being said, I like guns, but live in MA, and us socialists don't take lightly to constitutional rights.
Go go gadget governor of Wisconsin!
I'm with Venificus on this one too. I especially think that the unions we are often forced to join which protect you from the "evil big corporation" become one themselves. They also can create a rift between management and employees, leading to obnoxious...
Turns out Brown was working hand-in-hand with ACORN, and registered 5,000 "Mickey Mouse"s to vote for himself. He subsequently won that election, but the pressure drove him mad, and thus....well you get the point :)
As Venny said, there's a lot to be said for pertinent negatives. I would have done the same. I would rather try to be a clinician than a technician, treating only cardiac would seem somewhat tunnel-visioned. My question would be how can we try to figure out what's causing this "cardiac" issue...
There's talk of some blind-insertion airway devices with some of the companies up here (not mine) being BLS protocols. I think it's called a king tube or something like that? Very unfamiliar with advanced airway things...haven't began medic school yet and my service doesn't really get serious...
