Has anyone heard anything about GTCC? I took a tour and I was impressed with the equipment they had. They have an ambulance driving simulator and even a driving track. I also was impressed with how many simulator dummies they had (one even gave birth). They had lots of toys there that I was very impressed with. My only concern however is that it didn't feel totally organized. The person giving me the tour explained things were out of order because of the students practicing. If anyone knows anything about it I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!

Color me jealous...I teach at a small CC- EMT-and the equipment budget is limited, to put it mildly.
Equipment is important and simulators can be very helpful, but I think it comes down to the human resources.
The Dircector, faculty, instructors and proctors can make or break a program and the students' learning experience.

I'd talk to past graduates or check social media. Ask questions about the instructors backgrounds. How much do they invest in good clinical supervisors, facilities and agency contracts? What are the retention and pass rates for the program and NREMT?

Equipment and simulators are only as good as the people using them.

I know a lot of people that have gone through GTCC's program and came out very successful. Some are much stronger than others, but the key to remember here is that you'll get out what you put in. I'm only familiar with one of the staff members there, who I would argue is one of the best medics I've met.

If it's something you're after than go for it, but my suggestion to you would be to apply at GCEMS and go through the academy unless you want to have your NRP in which case do GTCC. Just remember to study, you don't want to just spout memorized things; the goal is always to understand.
