I just moved to the Houston, TX area and am starting paramedic school in the fall. I currently have no contacts to anyone in the area so I have been struggling on where to go to school. I have it narrowed down to Houston Community College and Lone Star college (I want to get an associates so I need a school where that is possible).

I would like to go apply to the best possible program that has a good reputation. The only problem is, I have no clue which of the two schools would benefit me the most. HCC is about a 45 minute drive from me while Lonestar is only 20 minutes. I'm willing to drive further if the program is better, but if it isn't then I don't see a reason to. I can't find reviews or ratings on either of schools that aren't google reviews (which you can't always trust).

If anyone happens to know anything about either of these college, or even things they've heard from connections in the area, I would greatly appreciate any advice at all, I need to apply very soon!

I work with several Lone Star graduates and they are top notch medics. Down where I am its College of the Mainland and Galveston college as the schools of choice. Most of the CC based schools are very good in the area from my little bit of research.

Anyone have any info about College of Mainland paramedic program? Im interested in this program, considering it will only be about a 25 min drive from my house. Also looking at Alvin college, and Lonestar.. Any info would be great! :D

Avoid Alvin. Unless there's been some major changes its not a place I'd recommend. CoM is a good school. The students i get from there seem to be pretty squared away and with it.

Sounds good, I've heard mixed reviews about Alvin..

College of Mainland seems like its a good school, Definitely considering it or Lone star.

Thank you!
