Hey EMTLife,

I am considering buying a large fleet of EMTs in Los Angeles and San Diego. My plan is to combine the 2 then expand to either more trucks or a helicopter transport service.

I need to know more about the practicality of air transportation vs. the more more popular road side assistance. How often do people even summon helicopters? What kind of accidents do they respond to? What is a good helicopter for the job? What goes in the helicopter that you might not find in a truck?

I would appreciate your perspicacity.

Lol you guys are funny. OK I was thinking an EC135 as seen below. I just wanted to find some information on what type of aircraft you might allready have worked in that might be better for the EMT than others.

It is always truly awesome when someone with MILLIONS in start up capital comes to a web board for advice on how to start said business and then displays lack on knowledge of the most basic questions.

Listen Sir/Maam, if you have this much money floating around, please contact me as I have far better investment opportunities than yet another medevac service in the overly saturated market.

Your very few basic questions comments indicate you know nothing. I would gladly educate you on it all, however none of that advice will be free.

Surely this is still a troll...?

Yeah I know it's hard to get your foot in the door. That's the down side for new companies. The good side is that the top ambulance service is up for sale in SD. It netted $850,000 last year (at 20% of the revenue). The one is LA only has about 1/2 the trucks(14 trucks) and crappy clientele. It still made $350,000/yr. in 2014. As a result, I will expand LA first. Hopefully the clientele that comes with the company in SD will give it the boost that it needs.

If you can find a better investment opportunity than that for working 20hrs. a week I am all ears.

It will take a lot more than twenty hours a week to do it. But if you hire people to do all the management for you and they actually know what they are doing I guess you could just come in and sign the paychecks. One thing you really need to consider is who is paying for the services as your reimbursement will not be actual costs. Plus look to the future as to who is paying the bills and the direction it is heading in. It may turn out to not be as profitable as it looks right now.

Yeah when you work with a corporation it is easier to get allot of spending power. We can buy any amount of helicopters and dispatch offices we need. We obviously don't want to over do it because we have to pay interest on the angel-bonds.

You need to buy at least 60% of the helicopters in the Western Hemisphere to get saturation. I reckon you can buy Air Evac Lifeteam and Eagle med for only a few tens of millions of dollars, but the news stations might hold onto theirs. You'll also need green cards for your EMT. Although flight basic sounds interesting....HEMS dialysis derby?

Well there is one market you should seriously look into....since Uber started in CA and this is where you want to go and you want to do helo work...here is a real email I received from Uber reference some Dubai operations...no reason you could not do this here in USA.
