What can I do prior to training?

Hey guys. Unfortunately I applied to begin my emt training just a little too late and the course was full. I don't want to just waste a whole semester and want to do something that will help me in my future career. I'm in Oklahoma so after I'm certified I'll probably try to work for EMSA. I've heard their academy can be slightly difficult to get into. My current job isn't related to the field what so ever.

I'm curious about what I can do his semester to help me down the road. I want a new job in the field to give me a little edge and hopefully a better chance to get into the academy. Any suggestions?

If you have the time, I suggest you take an anatomy and physiology course. For basic EMT, you might be able to "get away" with a 1 semester course that covers all systems as a survey format, but you'd be better off if you took a full academic year A&P course as you'll understand the material from a "why" standpoint instead of simply learning "what" to do. While you'll still do "x" when you see "y" you'll also know why you do "x" at that time and not something else that sounds good.
