I was just wondering what it was like for those of you who are working or worked as an EMT-B in college.
I'm planning on volunteering as an EMS at UIUC and I want to know what I might be getting myself into before I get into it .

I work part time EMS as a college student. So far it's been great, i get to make a few extra bucks and can do schoolwork on my downtime. I am lucky enough to have a flexible schedule, and have not had any conflicts with school and work to date.

I worked on the ambulance during breaks and for the Sports Medicine department during the year. I worked 25-30 hours a week which was a little excessive but still plenty doable.

Working on a college EMS squad is a fantastic was to get your feet wet! The calls are (generally) pretty straight forward, but you get comfortable talking to patients which is great!
