Hi!
So I'm looking to move to North Carolina from California and want to continue my career as an EMT. I was just curious about if I have to retake the courses or do I just have to retake NREMT. I've called the offices but all I got was a voice machine.
If you have any suggestions I would be happy to hear them!
Thank you!

I was in your shoes once. Look at www.medic911.com. We're based in Charlotte and work for Mecklenburg County. It's a great place to work. If you have your NR, its easy to get certification. Our medical services team will do that for you during your new hire academy.

As far as I know you don't have to re-take NREMT. I see:

People currently holding EMS credentials from other states, the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT), the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO), or the National Academy of Emergency Dispatchers (NAED) may be issued a North Carolina EMS credential through legal recognition.

They should recognize your state license.

If you have not been a North Carolina resident for the past consecutive five years, you will be required to complete a national background check which is included as part of your information packet.

After all information is received, an applicant eligible for legal recognition will be issued an equivalent North Carolina credential with an expiration date that matches the state or National Registry credential used to obtain legal recognition. This expiration date will not exceed four years.

Call Alesia Hester at 919-855-3956 or Gloria Currie at 919-855-3944 with any questions.

Where are you looking in North Carolina?

You'll want to look into Wake County EMS, Franklin County EMS, Durham County EMS, North State Medical Transport (IFT), Johnston Ambulance Service (IFT), and Samaritan Ambulance Service (IFT).

Good luck!

Everyone above has given some great suggestions, and if you make it out to the Southeastern Coast let me know and I'll help you navigate our services.

Welcome to the land of EMS as a first class citizen.

then go to that site I linked earlier, and see what spots are posted statewide.

if you are looking at Wake Forrest area (nice area by the way), look at Orange County EMS, Johnson County EMS, and if you need a job really badly, apply to Granville Health System or First Health hospital.

Oh, and get your NREMT, it's relatively painless, and it will look good on your application.

I'm in that area, if I can help in any way, PM me
