My last field delivery. At the time it sucked. A narcotic addicted micro-preemie with no prenatal care. But, according to the NICU nurse, he recovered w/ no deficeit and that same NICU nurse adopted him :) She credited my crew and our second unit with the fact that the kiddo did so well.

Was getting our *** handed to us with back to back calls all day when a chest pain call was dispatched. We show up and its a "cut and dry" chest pain call with a 60s yo M. All VS are perfect, the pain already subsided, and the pt's 12 lead is probably better than mine so a nice easy transport to the ER. In our rigs music only plays out of the speakers in the cab not in the pt treatment area, but the pt must have heard the music playing at low volumes in the front of the rig. He called out right away "thats the Allman Brothers, turn that **** up". Needless to say the transport was filled with singing and air guitar solos from the pt and a very sincere thank you after we transferred care to the ER. Sometimes its not always about the medicine/skills

Dispatched to a multi vehicle accident, reported with entrapment and one patient laying in the road, unresponsive.

Arrived on scene to find a minor fender bender. All refusals. My partner and I went and got ice cream, the owner of the store would not take our money and handed us cones for free.

Best. Call. Ever.

Lady got struck in the head by a deer that was struck by a pickup truck doing highway speed. I was on my way to work and made the scene a minute after it happened. Ambulance arrived, we RSIed her, transported (not knowing the story), and dropped her off at the ED with a pretty vague report. Patient made a full recovery. Absurd call with a happy ending=awesome.

Best Call:
Not sure which call I would say was my "best", with a happy ending.
However, the calls where family and patients truly show gratitude and thankfulness for the time and effort we put in to take care of their love ones (themselves) ... those are the best calls for me.
