Anyone apply for San Diego Fire?

I know we have a lot of SoCal folks on the board.

Any of you Paramedics apply for San Diego City Fire?

I applied in like June and just got an invite to test in December.

I always thought I'd never move back to Cali, but for a fire career in SD.... I just may.

Anyways- anyone else get an invite?

Same, scheduled for the written early December. This is actually my second attempt with SDFD, applied last year, passed the test, invited to the interview, bombed it and didn't move forward. That was like March or April I think off the top of my head. Then like a month or so later I saw they were open again so I reapplied. Got an email a month or so ago asking me to resubmit a couple of my certs (CPR and State EMT card), faxed them in as asked, emailed the guy and got confirmation of receipt, and now just got the email for the test today...I feel cautiously optimistic about it, test dates work nicely with my Army Reserve unit drill dates down in SD, and since I'm working in house for a FD up in LACo right now, I feel like I have the experience and tools I need to make it to the academy

SD city?
Starting pay low 40s and a 401k retirement, I'll pass. As much as I love SD that pay doesn't justify living in a sketch part of town with roommates just to make rent.
I'd be cautious about pursing them as a career due to low morale and the overall financial shape the city is in.

I just relocated from San Diego and go figure they invite me to test. As well as I know the San Diego system, I'm going to pass on the fire recruit test. I like where I'm at currently.

Taken directly from SDFD's website.

"A Firefighter I base salary is $3263 monthly. Firefighter II salary ranges from $4822 to $5281. A Firefighter III salary range is $5307 to $5544. There is additional compensation for specialized skills or assignments."

"Additionally, Most recruits attending the San Diego Fire-Rescue Academy are City of San Diego employees and will be paid $2900. monthly."
