If you show up on scene, at an MVA, and the patient is still in the car, the roadway, or anywhere near the roadway, That is the fire departments patient until handed over to you, period. Fire has control over MVA scenes including the patients until the scene is deemed safe enough for EMS to treat the patients that are handed over from Fire to EMS. This normally happens in a very fluid manner for most EMS/Fire systems. If you ever show up on an MVA scene, and fire does not want to hand the patient over to you or is complaining about you being in the way or anything, stand your *** by your truck, say you will be there when they need you to transport, and start documenting like hell.

Honestly the real answer is to work this **** out, you shouldn't ever have problems with the people on your scene that cannot be resolved quickly and easily through your boss and theirs. If someone is texting you *****ing about a call and your actions ....frankly sounds like grounds for termination to me, that **** would not be tolerated around here. You go to your supervisor, you relay the problem, you block the persons number, and you move on with your life.

Thank you all. I do have bitter feelings for a particular volly dept. But no the one that was here. My partner is kind of jerk at times. Better to go with the flow with him. Could result in a bad day at work

OP, how old are you?

How did the person who sent you the text messages get your phone number and how old is she?

You "mingled" with her and now she's texting you, you both need to grow the **** up.

John, easy.I understand how this seemed like a. Well whatever you thought it to be. I was telling you how she has my number and I got hers. I will admit mingled was improper for this. I am sorry. That back ground should not of be put into the conversation it's from a few years back and irrelevant. However I do respect your opinion. This issue was resolved by the EMS chief. All is good

You had to get a Chief to intercede over your immature dealings with a former girlfriend.

Like I said, grow the **** up.

If you start a thread tititled "first responder vs EMT", but fail to mention that the first responder is the EMTs ex-whatever, followed by "it's from a few years back and irrelevant", and then required a crew chief to resolve it, then you can't get butthurt when someone tells you to grow up.

Maybe she acted inappropriately and should not have sent those texts, but there is a ton of backstory here that you are leaving out.

I would LOVE to hear her version of this story.

I am calm, thats how I'm able to recognize immaturity so readily.

At the end of the day we are all EMS. I'm ending this. It's tarnished my reputation. I regret ever posting this. John is right. I will be leaving EMT life for good. Good day.

Good lord...instead of running away like a little child why don't you stick around and simply try and learn how to be a better care provider?

And leave the istagram, twittering, texting, and the constant crying out for attention and whatever else the children are playing at where they belong, in high school

By the way, it's called a board. There, you've already learned something.

I work full time for a fire dept. In my area we have control of the scene. I've never had a problem with the ems unit arguing with us over patient care. We are all there to assist the patient. Work together.

<moderator removal> @thefireemt That's is awesome
. When I was just starting out doing my ride along. Big town had fire respond to ems calls with ems of course. Beautiful apparatus they had. Is it common that a ladder truck respond tho? I remember a few times. The fire fighters where in a ladder truck.
Your second part of the comment, it depends on the city, state, protocols, and department. In my area the fire department will respond to every medical call. In one of the cities I cover as a paramedic intern we get 3 fire engines and an ambulance on every medical aid

In my opinion that was justified. Internet freedom! Do you pay my bills John? Do you provide any real advice? No you don't. You do like to BS I will give you that. Now I like to BS to. There we have something in common. Heck we could be buds! You need to private message me John. Sure we could gain so much from each other. Or have online checkers game. sure your a senior member. But EMT is EMT no need for the hate. Relax enjoy life.
I'm curious ... you state your location is Canada and your training is EMT-Basic ... I find that odd because there is no such thing as EMT-Basic anywhere in Canada ... so which are you lying about?

just teasing hockey. Lol poor guy hemorrhoids are bad news. Paramedic intern. hey sense you commented. I'm taking paramedic prereq. Once thats over do you know if you have to be a full time EMT to be able to get into the program? The collage here said there course its set up to take a person from collage student to emt to paramedic. So unsure about it
Each college is set up differently. Some don't have any kind of prerequisite classes while others have them and entrance tests.

Some will want you to be part time while others will take students with zero experience.

Your best bet would be to call around to your local programs and find out what the process is for your area
