If somebody wants to be in this field of work bad enough, they will find a way to go to a traditional school. I'm a single mom, have a full time job plus volunteer at the rescue squad and I did it. I think online classes is the lazy way out to get a certification that deals with someone's...
Online Classes in General........ my opinion
For the past 6 years, climbing up throught the ranks of Basic, Intermediate and Paramedic, I have made so many sacrifices of time away from my family and had to forego vacations and other outings because of school. But I would not trade one day of...
We got called out reference general sickness. We got there and this guy was really sick. He had been "going" from both ends for hours and had a sort of green tint to his face. We asked all the usual questions (sample history) and the last oral intake was a salad. I asked if there was anything...
Good luck to you! Here's a bit of advice if you want it..... pay close attention in Basic class because having a really true understanding of the basics is going to help you through your entire career - whether you stay a basic or take it on to paramedic or even further. Always remember - BLS...
Stopped at 88 questions and passed (YAY!) It took me about 45 minutes. And by the way, the NC state exam was much much harder than the National but I passed it too.
It's Never Too Late To Start
Hi. I am 48 years old and achieved something last week that I never thought would happen. I got my Paramedic certification. I got my Basic (NC and National Registry) 6 years ago, my Intermediate a year ago, and my Paramedic a week ago. If you love this business...
I know it's been a month since this thread was started but I have a really good website to go to:

You can take practice tests, learn alot of rhythms and why they happen. You can freeze the screen to take a closer look. I took each rhythm, froze the screen, and printed...
I agree with the "practice" theory. I just got home from Saturday Lab in Paramedic class. We are doing Cardiology so we were doing cardiac scenerios. Light bulbs were coming on one right after the other. I was recognizing rhythms, shouting out drug dosages, just "getting it" all day long...
I agree with Kelley. One day he is either going to be knocked down a few notches by a Paramedic on a scene OR he is going to be on a call that is so awful he will step back and re-think his life and what is important in it. He hasn't seen enough yet to realize how fast life can be snatched...
Way to go!!!!!! I know when I took it, it was the old pencil and paper test and I had to wait in agony for 3 weeks. I'll be testing for Paramedic in September on the new CBT system.
Again, best of luck in your career !!!

My first call was a suicide. She took the time to cover her waterbed with plastic and towels before she cut her wrists and bled out. Not much I could do except protect the crime scene. Turns out, after a year of investigating, the husband killed her.
Hello SC Bird
Nice to see a "neighbor" here. I am from NC (about 10 miles west of Charlotte). I'm a Paramedic student at Gaston College. Just finishing up Cardiology and working on Neurology right now. Congrats on getting started in August. I just assisted in a Nat'l Registry practical...
