My state does not require National Registry, so I did not see the need to spend a hundred-plus dollars needlessly.
I took my state exam 20 days after the course ended.
I argue against fire based ems all the time. Primarily because many fire departments are extremely political ,excluding qualified people to hire a friends son instead. Further many Fire departments have age caps (no one hired if they are older than X)
or else they hire veterans to the near...
In Illinois the term is EMT-I. There are two levels of intermediates here.
I-85, and I-99.
Basically, 85's are certified to start a line, place an ET tube, do 3-leads and use manual defibrilators, and besides o2, are given 10 of the most commonly used drugs. NS, amiodarone (or lidocane...

The wages here are average for paid EMS in this part of the state. I hate to say this, but it might be due to the fact that many services in the area are fire based. Either as part of full time fire depts or as part of a vollie fire protection district.

I have participated as an unpaid bls / 1st Aid level responder for similar events, though not through an MRC.
I would HIGHLY encourage you and your associates to look at obtaining personal malpractice insurance. I know HPSO for one offers a discounted rate for Vollie EMS.Their policies...
I am with a private service in IL.
Basics make minimum wage ($ 8.25/hr)
Intermediates (i-99) make a dollar more, (9.25) but cannot function above the EMT-B level.
Medics make $ 11.00 regardess of education or additional certs like PEPP or ITLS which are not required by my system.
Shifts are...
At my service, the regular meds are kept in a tackle box sealed with a numbered zip tie.
This sits otherwise unsecured in the back next to the monitor.
Narcs ( morphine, fentanyl, versed) and carbojects are kept in a clear box with a pair of numbered zipties. At shift change, the medic of the...
