    Advanced Airway Consideration

I understand the infant/neo-nate side of it, but let me throw this into the mix. The conjoined twins on tv were about 16-17 years old. How would you do vent settings for them?

Then it would come to reason that you would need to vents, but cut the tidal volume in half on each vent, right?

    Filtered needle anyone ???

We did away with ampules, which suits me just fine. Even with a filtered needle, I was never quite comfortable with them. Just didn't trust them.

    Interview question ???

If they give you senario questions never use the terms " I might, should, could". Be confident and say I will. Good luck.

    Advanced Airway Consideration

Ok, I am really serious about this subject. This was a 3am bay talk after a call on night at the firehouse. There had been a show on tv about conjoined twins, specifically the twin girls who share one body with two heads. Now these are two fully formed heads, each with a seperate upper...

    AED->Monitor adapters (PAD)

EMS bought all the fire departments AEDs so we keep uniformity. As far as downloading, if an AED is used, we can download the code summary at EMS. EMS also keeps up with all the maintenece for the AEDs. It's a pretty big responsibility, but like I said, it keeps everything uniform, and...

    A-fib with RVR

I think the A-fib with RVR issue has been solved, but I have a real problem with shocking PEA. This needs to be brought to the attention of your supervisor for QA/QI. The other problem I have is how did this person pass medic class, ACLS, and state boards (if that is how it is done your state)...

    the 100% directionless thread

I am gettin tired of getting patients that have been placed next to the tv, with the volume turned all the way up. I guess this is an offering to the tv gods. " PLEEEEEEEASE SAVE MEMAW FROM DEATH. I KNOWS SHE 108 YEARS OLD, BUT IT AINT HER TIME YET!!!!!!!"

Please tell me what I missed with this patient

Don't kill yourself over this. I probably would have just off the Hx. Don't sweat the nurse.

    Questions about protocols

We have a state EMS director, and each service has a medical director. We have one set of protocols for the entire state, but each service can adapt those to what suits them best, but they cannot deviate from the basic principal. If a service wans to add or delete from protocols, such as...

    First 24 hr shift done

We do 24/48 at the county I work for, and I tell ya what. I love it. Some days we don't turn a tire, and some days, we never see the station. The great thing abount our service, is our command staff is very good about down time. As long as the station is cleaned, the buses are stocked, clean...
